Richard Collis

Richard is a partner in, and leads, the firm’s Mid-Market & Not-For-Profit team in London, working particularly with UK mid-market businesses.

Richard has significant expertise advising clients in the human capital, professional services, software and technology sectors.

As well as being a Chartered Accountant, registered auditor, and Chartered Tax Adviser, Richard also advises clients on sustainability, providing a blend of both advisory and compliance services across disciplines.

Richard built and currently also leads the firm’s Sustainability & ESG team, using his experience as a business adviser, background as a Physical Geographer, and specific sustainability focused knowledge, to help companies at various stages on their sustainability journey. Richard and the team’s goal is to help the UK’s mid-market companies, individually and collectively, transform their businesses for a sustainable future.

Through his diverse and international client base, and multi-disciplinary skill set, Richard often advises businesses on complex cross-border issues and regularly works closely with other professional advisers overseas.

Richard is also involved with Nexia, the leading global accounting network, and helps to facilitate international projects and deliver complex cross-border advice and projects.

Richard’s key philosophy is that he is a true client relationship partner and looks after all the affairs of both the business and the associated individuals, bringing together both elements in a pragmatic and proactive way. Richard aims to deliver this personal, tailored and private client style approach to all of his clients, irrespective of size or nature.

As well as helping clients with specific audit, assurance, tax, accounting, sustainability, ESG, governance and other advisory matters, Richard is often a Board’s key trusted adviser and sounding board, and he regularly advises leadership teams on wide strategic and commercial business issues.

In addition to his client work, Richard has held a number of senior leadership roles including serving twice on the firm’s Management Board, serving on both the regional and global boards of Nexia, and leading one of the firm’s largest corporate-focused teams in London for many years.

  • Helping an international professional services firm with sustainability & ESG, including double materiality assessment, carbon accounting and CSRD disclosure,
  • Assisting an expanding UK owned group in setting up operations in the USA, EU and Asia,
  • Helping a large US based corporation to set up their new UK and EU operations,
  • Designing and implementing a global share incentive structure for a growing international business,
  • Providing tax planning and succession advice to shareholders of a large UK family-owned business,
  • Completing financial and tax due diligence on a UK target business for an overseas acquirer,
  • Providing personal tax services to the partners of a large professional services firm.
