Jonathan has over three decades of experience advising private clients and trusts in relation to income and capital taxes. He joined Saffery in 2009 after spending over 20 years at a Big 4 firm in Leeds.
Jonathan is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and The Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (STEP) and is part of the firms Estates Discussion Group and the Trust Forum. Both groups meet on a regular basis to discuss important updates in the land and rural sector and trust taxation and administration.
Jonathan regularly presents on taxation matters at the firms local Land and Rural Business updates.
Jonathan looks after a varied portfolio of clients including high net worth individuals, landed estates and trusts including some with Heritage and Conditionally Exempt assets.
Key experience
- Providing support to the compliance team in relation to complex Income and Capital tax issues including IHT reporting for complex estates and trusts,
- Advising landed and rural estates on business ownership structures and succession planning covering income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax issues,
- Advising clients with development land and appropriate structures across different owners,
- Dealing with complex HMRC enquires.
Interests
Jonathan is married with three grown up children. His interest include reading, listening to music, theatre, walking and photography. He is particularly fond of the North Yorkshire coast.
