Saffery Trust celebrates the first anniversary of the opening of its Cayman Islands office this January, and four years of Cayman Islands service provision.
The locally based Saffery Trust team in the Cayman Islands has doubled in size through 2023, expanding its offering to include yacht management services and deepening its market-leading expertise in solutions and structures for digital asset owners and entrepreneurs.
New hires during this time have included Director Andrew Needham, and corporate and maritime expert Natasha Bunting. Since joining, Andrew has played a leading role in building the firm’s presence in Cayman, with a particular focus on Family Office structures as well as digital assets, while Natasha’s specialist yacht management service supports clients across the firm’s international offices, further enhancing Saffery Trust’s global offering.
The local Cayman Islands team is supported by the firm’s network of offices and professionals across Dubai, Guernsey, Switzerland and the UK, including Dominic Lawton-Smith, who joined the firm in 2023 having previously led the Cayman private client business of a global funds and corporate services firm.
Taken together, the team provides comprehensive fiduciary, trust and corporate services including establishing and administering locally domiciled Cayman Islands structures for high-net worth individuals, their Family Offices and business interests.
Marking the one year anniversary of the completion of Saffery Trust’s acquisition of Holdun Trust, the firm hosted colleagues and peers at a rooftop event in Grand Cayman – with a local Caymanian artist commissioned to create decorations for the event to showcase the new Saffery brand, which launched in September 2023.
Saffery Trust once again partnered with local businesses to spotlight Caymanian makers and locally made products at its sponsor stand at the STEP Cayman International Wealth Structuring Conference 2024. The conference saw the firm’s Cayman team joined by Director Lisa Vizia and Associate Director Donna Brehaut from the Guernsey office, Executive Director Judith Chatoo from Geneva, alongside London-based Dominic Lawton-Smith.
Lisa Vizia, Director at Saffery Trust, commented:
“The concerted growth of the firm in Cayman and the success that we have seen, particularly in the last year, really is testament both to the calibre of people that we have here at Saffery Trust and the continued role of Cayman as a best-in-class global centre for wealth and asset management and protection. We are continuing to invest in the team and our presence in the Cayman Islands, focusing on ensuring we are providing our clients access to the best people and solutions to meet their needs and to realise the opportunities that come with operating in one of the most highly regarded financial jurisdictions in the world.”
Andrew Needham, Director at Saffery Trust, commented:
“It has been a real pleasure to welcome to Cayman, and collaborate with, our Saffery colleagues from across all our office locations as part of our multi-jurisdiction and cross border service for international clients and their structures.
“At the same time, at every opportunity we have sought to support local enterprise, creators and makers in the Cayman Islands. We’re very fortunate to live and work among such great people and talent – inside and outside of the firm – and are excited about what the next year will hold.”
