Saffery Trust has appointed Matthew Gilligan as an Associate Director in the firm’s Guernsey office.
At Saffery Trust, Matthew will work closely with the fiduciary teams to assist them in providing bespoke offshore solutions for UHNWIs across a range of key jurisdictions. He will also have a major focus on business development for the firm, helping to expand its reach and unlock new market opportunities for the fiduciaries business.
Matthew brings to bear more than 15 years of experience in the finance industry. He joins Saffery Trust from a privately owned trust company, where he managed complex and multi-jurisdictional family structures. His work involved advising on and managing a wide range of unique and high-end assets on behalf of clients based around the globe including Europe, North America, and Asia. He has also worked extensively on high-end residential and commercial property transactions in the UK.
Outside the office, Matthew is an active committee member for the Guernsey branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and also serves as its Student Liaison Officer, regularly working with students to provide advice and guidance throughout their studies.
Matthew’s hire follows the the promotion of Donna Brehaut to Associate Director from 1 January 2021.
