Saffery Trust Guernsey celebrated 19 long-service awards over the 2024/2025 financial year, highlighting the firm’s commitment to employee retention and recognition.
The awards included Director Helen Green marking 40 years of service, alongside two 25-year, one 20-year, six 15-year, four 10-year, and five 5-year awards. With just over 100 employees in its Guernsey office, 63% of the team have now been with Saffery Trust for between five and 40 years.
With a recent McKinsey report predicting a shortage of 100,000 wealth management professionals by 2034, and global hiring rates falling, Saffery Trust’s impressive retention rates and dedication from its employees underscore its strength as an employer.
Saffery Trust Associate Director of People & Culture, Sharon Coburn, said the awards were meaningful to individuals and the wider team alike.
“Looking after our people and creating environments where they can thrive is an integral part of the Saffery Trust ethos. We invest time and resources year-round to providing opportunities for our team members to reach their potential both personally and professionally. Recognising long service isn’t just about celebrating milestones, it’s about celebrating the relationships, knowledge, and teamwork that make our firm exceptional,” said Sharon.
The firm’s reputation as a top-tier employer was reinforced by its 10th consecutive accreditation as a STEP Platinum Employer and being shortlisted for Employer of the Year at the 2024 STEP Private Client Awards.
Over the last 12 months, the firm introduced several initiatives to support its employees including a Director Pathway Programme to support Associate Directors in their career progression. Saffery Trust also joined the Guernsey Mind Workplace Partnership in 2024, and undertook an engagement survey to provide team members with another platform to share their views on well-being, and workplace culture.
Saffery Trust Managing Director, Nick Batiste, said:
“With over 30 years at Saffery Trust myself, I understand why team members choose to stay for so long, and it’s important to me that others feel the same sense of value and belonging. I am incredibly proud of the culture at Saffery Trust, underpinned by our core values, which encourages this level of commitment from our people.”
