Saffery makes promotions and new appointments in Edinburgh
Saffery has announced promotions and new appointments for its growing Edinburgh-based team, with effect from 1 April.
Sean McGinness, Saffery’s head of VAT and National tax partner, has been appointed head of office for Edinburgh. The Edinburgh office comprises 65 people, and Sean is taking on the role following seven successful years under Elaine McInroy’s leadership.
Sean comments: “I’m very much looking forward to leading the office. It’s an exciting and busy time for the team in Edinburgh – we’ve grown 30% over the past three years in terms of both headcount and turnover. It’s a testament to the strength of our well-established private client and landed estates practice, along with significant growth in the corporate and NFP teams across audit, accounting and tax. As a result, we’ve signed a lease on new office space, which will see us relocate to 9 Haymarket Square later this year.”
In the audit team, Harry Kendall has been promoted from senior manager to director and Katie Shaw has been promoted to Assistant Manager to further strengthen the audit and corporate advisory offering across Scotland.
Harry has an MA in Economics from Heriot-Watt University, and initially joined Saffery’s London office as a trainee accountant in 2016, before relocating to the Edinburgh office in 2021. Harry provides audit, advisory and accountancy services to a wide range of corporates, not-for-profits and landed estates, as well as providing advice on financial and regulatory compliance, internal management reporting and financial forecasting.
Harry comments: “I’m delighted to be making this next step with a historic firm with a modern, inclusive and forward-looking outlook. It is an exciting time at Saffery with our growth and upcoming relocation.
In 2018, Katie also graduated from Heriot-Watt University obtaining a MA in Accountancy and Finance, and joined the audit team at Saffery as a newly qualified senior in 2021. Since then, Katie has worked on a range of corporate and not-for-profit audits, as well as working on audits spanning many of our other Saffery offices including London and Peterborough.
Katie Comments: “The opportunities both locally and nationally at Saffery have allowed me to gain valuable experience. I’m delighted with my promotion to Assistant manager and look forward to working at our new home at 9 Haymarket Square later this year.”
