Ambition looks good on you
You want to build a career in accountancy or tax, but it’s got to be fast-moving. Not pedestrian, never run-of-the-mill. You want a career that pushes you. Excites you. Rewards you. So, that’s what we’ll help you achieve. Because, like you, we’re ambitious.
We’ll make sure you reach your full potential. By training you, better developing you. By actively supporting you and yes, pushing you too.
But because you want to get on in your career, you’re ready to work hard and learn hard. To listen to the expertise around you and apply it to your work and your career. Like everyone here at Saffery, we’ll help you to be better tomorrow than you are today.
Personally involved, collectively invested
We all want to see you succeed. It’s in your interests and in ours too. So, from day one, you’ll play a major part in our continued success of providing exceptional client service.
One of the first things you’ll notice about working here is how early responsibility comes your way. From the word go, you’ll be involved in live client work alongside experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful colleagues.
You’ll get to know our partners too. Because they’re not tucked away in grand offices. They’re out there with you. On the floor, on calls, by your side. They’re as committed to your career as you are. And we need you to be committed. To learn fast and work hard. To listen to every voice and learn from every situation, every conversation, every mistake.
Your progress is in your hands. We’ll help you make it happen. We’ll also give you a salary and benefits package that’s competitive with the top quartile in our industry.
Chartered accountant or tax adviser. Here’s how we’ll make it happen for you
You want to train as a chartered accountant or tax adviser. That’s the aim. That’s the plan. So, here’s what we do.
During your training, you’ll go through different study programmes with high quality tuition providers.
If you’re on the audit or accountancy side, you’ll study with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (ICAEW), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
As a tax trainee, you’ll study with the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the ICAEW (for those studying for the ACA-CTA joint qualification).
To join us as a graduate, you’ll need:
- 2:1 degree (expected or obtained) in any discipline,
- A minimum of 120 UCAS points in your A Levels (or equivalent), gained at one sitting, and
- A minimum of B (or 6) in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent).
How to apply and what to expect
We want you to apply and join us here. So, we’ve tried to make our application process as human and painless as possible. Early on, you’ll speak to one of our people directly. They’ll happily (and honestly) answer any questions you have – about our firm, or how we work, or what we expect. Just ask away.
Here’s how the process works:
- First up, you’ll need to fill out an online application form (take your time). If you have extenuating circumstances that have affected your grades, please email [email protected]
- Next, you’ll complete an online general ability test.
- Do well in these and we’ll invite you to an interview with a member of our Early Careers Team.
- The final stage is an in-person assessment day which includes an interview with a partner, and a case study exercise.
