A chance to shine for the first-year trainees

Peterborough first year trainee enjoying lunch with Saffery Partners

In the run up to Christmas, Saffery’s first year trainees worked on a three-day research project with the Partners from the firm’s office in Peterborough.

In three groups, the trainees researched a range of industries that might have presented investment opportunities and, once the research was completed, they created a presentation which was delivered to the partners.

The main aim of the project was to generate viewpoints that the partners may not have considered and to offer some valuable suggestions.

Sam Kime, Audit Assistant at Saffery and the first-year trainee said: “What I enjoyed most about the project was the opportunity during our research, and the lunch afterwards, to get to know the partners a little better, and to show them a little about ourselves and what we could do.

In addition, it was fantastic to be able to work closely with the other trainees, especially those from other departments. Even within the audit department, I rarely work on projects with the other first year trainees, so this was a brilliant opportunity.

Although presenting is always daunting, I would like to think that each group gave the partners something to think about, and that we all now know each other a little better now. This was a valuable experience for all the trainees.”
