Zoe has over 28 years’ experience in the provision of domestic and international corporate tax advice, fund structuring and M&A transactions, with a specific focus on the real estate and outsourcing sectors. Zoe also has considerable experience in both tax and commercial issues ranging from running complex domestic transactions to leading cross border deals which involved liaising and project managing over 25 offices globally.

Zoe advises on tax matters arising from tax compliance and reporting as well as projects including providing due diligence and tax structuring advice on transactions. She also advises on many infrastructure projects, in particular PPP and PFI projects, this advice typically includes restructuring and refinancing and reviewing financial models for both the public and private sector.

A regular speaker at external conferences for the past 20 years, Zoe has led a number of seminars and workshops for clients.


Key experience

  • Leading an international property transaction for a UK REIT, where the property portfolio was £75m+. The project included providing complex tax structuring advice and tax due diligence as well as project managing the deal for the client.
  • Advising various property transactions of £50m+, providing a range of services, including tax due diligence, tax structuring and modelling the implications of changes to property tax legislation.
  • Leading relationships for not-for-profit organisations and charities, including a number of independent schools, together with providing advice to them on both tax technical and commercial
  • Acting as an expert witness, including for a UK government department advising on a particularly complex tax issue being challenged by a contractor. Also assessing whether specific tax advice provided to a client was of the standard to be expected of a reasonably competent tax adviser.
  • Acting as tax audit partner for a number of Plcs, and well as other household names.
  • Providing tax advice on the demerger of part of the business of a utility company and the subsequent structuring of a new joint venture with a public sector partner.

Interests

Zoe is a keen runner and enjoys many other sports and outdoor pursuits, including golf, skiing, hiking and cycling. Occasionally, Zoe also has time to go to the theatre and cinema.
