Saffery success in Business Fives tournament in Bournemouth

Saffery team from our Bournemouth office took part and won the 5 Aside football tournament in Bournemouth organised by Business Fives, an organisation that has been running corporate charity sports events for good causes. To date, Business Fives have successfully raised over £962,294.

This was the first year when a tournament was held in Bournemouth. Saffery Bournemouth team was invited to enter, with a number of Saffery teams having competed in other Business Fives events around the country.

The tournament started with a group stage which then broke off into three different competitions depending on the team’s group positioning, ending with a knockout tournament, which Saffery team was fortunate enough to win. The team also qualified for a place in the national finals, which will take place in Birmingham on 11 October 2024. The national tournament incorporates the winners of the two tournaments and the runners up. More importantly, Saffery team won £150 for the British Heart Foundation for its successes in the tournament.

James Woodward, Trainee Chartered Accountant, said: “Having suffered from heart issues myself, it is a charity I have always chosen to support whenever possible. It was an honour to take part with my colleagues from Saffery Bournemouth office and a big thanks has to go out to the team at Business Fives for organising such a noteworthy event and the stellar attitude of the other firms participating throughout the tournament”.
