Josie is a private client tax specialist who advises high net worth individuals, Trustees, and family offices on UK tax planning opportunities and their UK tax compliance obligations.
In particular, Josie focuses on advising entrepreneurs with multi-jurisdictional personal and business interest.
Josie joined Saffery in November 2022. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT).
Key experience
- Advising individuals on their UK tax residence status, domicile position and their exposure to UK tax on their worldwide assets,
- Tax planning for individuals who are arriving or leaving the UK and steps to be taken in advance, including reviewing offshore structures and advising on bank account segregation,
- Advising on the purchase, holding and disposal of UK residential and commercial property, including de-enveloping and restructuring of property-holding structures,
- Advising entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses throughout their growth journey, including consideration of the tax position on exit,
- Advising families on estate and succession planning, including the availability of reliefs and the use of offshore structures,
- Assisting clients in bringing their UK tax compliance up to date, including disclosing prior non-compliance to HM Revenue & Customs,
- Working with advisers in overseas jurisdictions to provide comprehensive advice that considers a client’s worldwide tax position.
Interests
Josie is a keen runner, swimmer and cyclist and enjoys competing in triathlons. She also enjoys painting and sketching portraits in her spare time.
