Matthew is the firm’s Managing Partner and is primarily responsible for managing the firm and setting the strategy for its future development.
He also leads a number of client relationships, comprising landed estates, owner-managed businesses and high net worth individuals. This client base extends across the UK and Matthew enjoys forming close working relationships with clients and their families.
Matthew originally qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and in the 1990s retrained with one of the ‘Big 4’ accountancy firms as a Chartered Certified Accountant. He joined Saffery in 2004 and became partner in 2006. He was elected as the firm’s Managing Partner in 2018 and re-elected in 2022.
Matthew was named as one of eprivateclient’s 50 Most Influential 2023, which recognises leading private client practitioners who are providing the highest levels of advice and service to clients and driving innovation in the way the needs of wealthy individuals are met.

Interests
Matthew has travelled extensively but has a particular interest in Zimbabwe. He is the Chairman of Trustees of Mission Aviation Fellowship, a charity which operates light aircraft in some of the world’s most isolated places to provide for medical and other needs. He also has a keen interest in aviation and holds a Private Pilots Licence.
